Regional Affiliate organizations are important and integral components of the Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons of California. OPSC Regional Affiliates serve four primary functions.
First, regional affiliate meetings provide continuing medical education on a regular basis to both OPSC members and prospective OPSC members in the region. CME hours provided by the regional affiliate are sponsored and administered by OPSC.
Second, regional affiliate meetings provide the opportunity for osteopathic medical professionals to network and discuss medical or practice management issues in a relaxed and social environment. Regional affiliate meetings also provide the opportunity to invite non-member osteopathic physicians to become involved in their professional society.
Third, the regional affiliates provide a forum for the discussion of local legislative and regulatory issues of concern or importance to osteopathic medicine.
Fourth, regional affiliate organizations provide an excellent opportunity to develop future OPSC and osteopathic medical leadership.
