Below are the admissions requirements of Touro University College of Osteopathic Medicine California (TUCOM-CA).  If you have any questions regarding these requirements please contact the Admissions office or visit their website at

Citizenship Requirement:

All applicants, including graduates from foreign institutes, must hold either US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status at the time of application.  Candidates with "pending" citizenship or permanent residency will not be considered.

Minimum Academic Requirements:

TUCOM-CA is one of the the few medical schools that pre-screens off the primary American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOMAS) application.  Minimum Science and Cumulative GPA's of 2.75 are required.  Typically, successful candidates earn Science and Cumulative GPA's of 3.0 or greater and have obtained a minimum combined Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT) score of 23 or better, though the Admissions and Standards Committee will, on a case by case basis, look below these figures.

All candidates are required to have obtained a Baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education prior to the start of the Class for which they are applying.

All candidates are required to submit qualifying scores from MCAT.

Throughout the application process, candidates are evaluated based on a variety of criteria, including the following:

Academic Competence
Personal/Professional Achievements
Demonstrated Leadership Skills
Creative Abilities
Experience in Health Care
Likelihood to Practice in Under Served Primary Care Areas

TUCOM-CA  believes that enrolling in these courses will provide candidates a valuable foundation and will ease their transition into medical school.

All required course work must be completed prior to the start of classes.  Candidates missing required coursework at the time of application may be permitted to proceed provisionally in the application process, provided they meet all other requirements.  Candidates are informed of this provisional status via email sent with the supplemental application message.

Additional Requirement for Graduate of Foreign Institutions:

TUCOM-CA considers applications from graduates of foreign institutions.  It does not, however, evaluate foreign transcripts.  Transcripts coursework from foreign institutions must be evaluated by a recognized evaluation agency.  Evaluations must be sent directly to AACOMAS and must indicate that the foreign degree can be considered equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited US institution.

Advanced Placement (AP) Credit:

TUCOM-CA accepts advanced placement credit as long as such credit appears on the undergraduate transcript and indicates either specific subject credit or specific course credit (Please visit for further clarification).  General advanced placement credit without such specifications is not accepted.
