New Era of Anti-Obesity Medication | Michelle Look, MD
Embark on a transformative journey into the New Era of Anti-obesity Medications with this presentation. Uncover cutting-edge pharmaceutical advancements of current AOM/s as well as those in development that are
reshaping the landscape of weight management. Understand why long-term treatment of the chronic disease of obesity with lifestyle interventions and medication makes sense and its impact on other chronic diseases.
This session challenges previous treatment paradigms offering primary care providers a comprehensive understanding of the evolving treatment of obesity. After decades of limited options, we've entered a
new era in which we have anti-obesity medications that produce 15-20% or more weight reduction and are improving health in ways that we've never seen before.
Learning Objectives:
Recognize and prioritize obesity as a chronic, progressive relapsing disease that requires a comprehensive, long-term treatment approach.
Identify the goals of obesity treatment using pharmacotherapy.
Implement an evidence-based, stepwise, comprehensive treatment plan that includes pharmacotherapy.
Discuss how pharmacotherapeutic approaches can both enhance initial weight reduction and improve weight maintenance.
(Workshop) Rapid Headache Management: A Five Step Approach for a 15-minute Office Visit |Sara Modlin-Tucker, DO
This hands-on lab equips osteopathic physicians with the skills to efficiently manage headaches using a structured, quick, and effective protocol. Participants will learn to identify and treat key anatomical structures
involved in headache pathophysiology, mastering techniques such as the SI Still technique, OA joint treatment, C2 BLT for dural tension, direct treatment of the suboccipital enthesis, and the star trigger band in the Fascial Distortion Model (FDM).
Through a blend of concise lectures and practical demonstrations, this course emphasizes integrating these techniques into a cohesive treatment protocol that can be utilized in a quick 15-minute office visit. This can enhance clinical decision-making
and patient communication. By the end of the lab, attendees will confidently apply these methods to provide rapid relief for headache sufferers within a typical office visit timeframe.
Learning Objectives:
Identify key anatomical structures involved in headache pathophysiology.
Demonstrate SI Still technique for dysfunction related to headaches.

Review some simple osteopathic techniques that can be useful for patients with altered orofacial function.
Establishing a Positive Patient Relationship... and Knowing When and How to Let Go | Andrea "Andie" Tena, BA
Once a relationship is established between a physician and patient, the physician bears an ongoing responsibility towards the patient until the relationship is formally concluded.
Situations may arise where it becomes necessary to terminate the relationship. It is critical to promptly identify such situations to prevent potential harm to the patient, such as non-adherence or non-compliance, as well as to ensure the safety
of the patient, other patients, and staff members from any risks, such as abusive behavior or violence. In order to mitigate professional liability and the risk of being accused of patient abandonment, it is essential for physicians to have a
clear understanding of the responsibilities and obligations in a proper discharge process. When terminating an established physician-patient relationship, it is important to adhere to recommended practices and legal guidelines. It is crucial to
identify and address issues that are causing the deterioration of the relationship at an early stage. Engage in open discussions with patients regarding any potential issues that may be adversely affecting the relationship. This presentation aims
to provide healthcare professionals with circumstances where the physicians have established a relationship with a patient. It will highlight indicators that may contribute to the decline of the physician-patient relationship and provide guidelines
for effectively terminating the relationship to prevent harm to the patient and mitigate any accusations of abandonment.
Learning Objectives:
Identify when a physician-patient relationship is established to determine duty and obligations to your patients.
Demonstrate how to appropriately terminate the physician-patient relationship to avoid patient harm or allegations of abandonment.
Assess situations that could lead to the deterioration and subsequent termination of the physician-patient relationship.
Develop a Workplace Violence Prevention Plan that includes protocols for dealing with difficult patient situations
(Workshop) OMT for the Cold and Flu Season | Victor Nuno, DO

A Soft Tissue/Facial Approach to Cervical Somatic Dysfunction | David Escobar, DO
Treatment of spinal somatic dysfunction is a foundational skillset for all osteopathic physicians. There are times however when treating the cervical spine, that minimal spinal mobilization is desired. Using the
fascial distortion model as a framework, we will explore the interplay between soft tissue structures in the neck and the cervical spine. This exploration will culminate in a treatment modality that is focused on soft tissue/fascial structures,
allowing the spinal somatic dysfunction resolution to follow naturally.
Learning Objectives:
Review the gross anatomy of the cervical spine and supporting structures
Understand and expound upon the anatomic and functional relationship between the cervical vertebrae, the muscles of the neck and the supporting structures of the clavicles and scapulae
Palpate cervical somatic dysfunction and practice treating soft tissue and fascial structures to facilitate resolution of somatic dysfunction
